Food tasting for our wedding lunch

Sorry yet again for the lack of posts. As you can see by my countdown timer, we're 49 days to the big day so things are getting pretty mad around here!!

We have been spring-cleaning, painting, assembling invites, making table numbers, having our first parents meeting, food tasting, giving out invites, planning seating arrangements, buying supplies for my breakfast table etc. As I'd said, madness!

I'll put up the photos of the other activities later. But I'll do a post now and put up the photos we took from the food tasting, sort of a reference for any existing and future Fullerton Hotel brides!

We had our food tasting on 19 May.

There are actually 2 more dishes but we were so busy eating I forgot to take photos haha. One was Deep Fried Wasabi Mayonnaise Prawns served with Mango Salsa and the other was Fried Ee-Fu Noodles with Yellow Chives and Bean Sprouts. My favourite was the fish and the pudding. Super nice!

After the food tasting, the chef came out to chat with us and to find out our feedback. Chef Leung was very nice and very receptive to our opinions and requests. We asked to move the chicken up the menu so as to better enjoy it and he had no problems. All in all it was a good experience. Hope my guests will enjoy the food on that day!

Food Love: Cuddled Eggs and Caramelised Banana Pocket Sandwich

How about a deviation from wedding stuff for today?

It's a beautiful Sunday morning and I had the motivation and mood to cook my man a good breakfast to start off his day for work.

Cuddled Eggs and Caramelised Banana Pocket Sandwich

For someone who works outdoors and in an active job, he needs all the protein and energy he can get. Bananas are a rich source of potassium, which helps your muscles function properly, and also gives you energy. Eggs are a good source of protein. All in all, a good breakfast to fill you up with energy for a full day of work.

I used the recipe for Cuddled Eggs from Sweet Paul with a couple of modifications. I didn't have heavy cream in the house so I didn't put that in. I added bits of honey baked ham, black pepper, salt and McCormick Mixed Herbs.

It turned out very yummy, although the next time I do this I'll probably just bake it for 5 to 8 mins instead.

Cuddled Eggs recipe from Sweet Paul

How to make caramelised bananas:

1 med banana (or 2 small ones)
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
1 tablespoon of brown sugar

Cut the banana into small pieces.
Melt butter and brown sugar in a frying pan over medium heat.
Add in the bananas flat side down, in one layer on the melted sugar and turn down the heat to low.
Flip the bananas over after a couple of minutes when they are nicely browned or when the smell of bananas fill your kitchen, and brown the other side.

To make the pocket sandwiches:
Butter 2 sides of the bread, put it in your sandwich maker.
Ladle up the caramelised bananas on the bread.
Add the second slice of bread on top, clamp down the sandwich maker.
3 mins later you're done!

A very yummy breakfast.

Food Love : Caramel Biscuit & Cream with Tea

MONICA: Joey, this is for you. (gives him a jar of jam) It's blackberry curin.

JOEY: Aww. (tastes it) Ohh!

CHANDLER: Hey, Joe, I gotta ask. The girl from the Xerox place buck naked (holds up one hand), or, or a big tub of jam. (holds up the other hand)

JOEY: Put your hands together.

source

I love 'Friends', don't you? It's my sitcom to go to when I'm feeling down.

The above excerpt is from the episode 'The one with the Jam' where Joey was totally enjoying Monica's handmade jam and Chandler just had to know which would he choose if he had to; girls or jam. And Joey being Joey had a simple solution; just put the two of them together!!

Which leads to my crazy idea.

I'm a tea person, I have to have at least a cup everyday. It's great to start the day with and such a pick-me-up when I'm tired and stressed. There's nothing like a good cup of tea.

I also love Haagen Daz's Caramel Biscuit & Cream ice-cream. It's one of my favourites along with Magnum Gold. It's my happy food!

Then I start to think, what if I put the two of them together??

It may sound weird but it does taste good.

a hot cup of ceylon tea
a BIG scoop of Caramel Biscuit & Cream
dunk it in for creamy goodness

The tea needs to be really strong and you'll need a really big scoop for the tea to become chilled and creamy. Yumz. Try it!

The one with Yingchao's baby shower

had a sumptious dim sum buffet at the Jade restaurant in Fullerton hotel, a nice gathering with the gals and a sort of baby shower for chao

he food was delish and at just SGD$28 per pax for the 11.30am seating, it's a steal!

check out the details here:

Delightful Dim Sum weekends

me and weiling scrapped a little something for the mummy...a room sign for the new baby!

nice?
we also did a lovely photo frame for their first family photo but i don't have a pic of it

after the buffet, i went down to ikea to shop around with little sis. was planning to see if there's any nice little things to buy but in the end it was my sis who bought a bag full of stuff, haha i made her spend money when she was only supposed to be accompanying me
but i got a few inspirations for our future home and checked out their latest offerings. a lot of visualisation in my head, i love ikea!

ok i may be way ahead in terms of buying things for my new home but hey this is nice and it was only $10.90!
