Dream: The Royal Wedding - Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Who was not bowled over by Kate Middleton's wedding dress?
If you weren't, go back to your cave Grinch!

I literally let out a gasp when she alighted from the Rolls Royce.

The dress is sooooo perfect!! It is honestly worthy of a princess. I love the Grace Kelly influence, the classic lines which makes it so timeless. You can look back on this photo decades later and find her so beautiful. Sarah Burton, creative director for Alexander McQueen did a fantastic job.

I think every little girl in the world (including me) just had her fairytale wedding dream ignited.

Love: Bridal Heels from Studio Tangs

I bought my bridal heels!!

Shoes are one of the most important elements of any wedding day, if not the most. You can have the perfect dress and gorgeous makeup and jewelry but if your feet hurt, all everyone could see would be the grimace on your face. As one who has had her fair share of horrible feet-killing shoes, I tell you there's no way you can be the blissful bride when all the 'bliss' you have comes from 'blisters'.

So it's very important you get yourself a pair of beautiful and comfortable pair of heels for your big day. It'll make all the difference in the world.

In my perfect world, I would be wearing either this pair from Badgely Mishka

or this pair from Fendi

or this pair from Alexander McQueen

Aren't they all dreamy?
But I could only dream, time to return back to earth.

So I thought I better get started on my search for my heels, thinking I'll probably need to trawl through numerous shops in order to find the heels I wanted. Actually I have been keeping an eye out for potentials while out shopping and ruled out places like Nine West and Aldo. I was slowly going down my list and was about to hit the departmental stores like Takashimaya and Tangs next.

Then while out with my bestie, we chanced upon Studio Tangs in Raffles City. And tadah there were my heels!!

I bought 2 pairs, both ivory peep-toes, one with a gorgeous ruffly flower and the other a simple bow.

(Heehee, my first attempt at styling. I used my favourite pink sash and pearls)

The pair with the flower has a steeper arch and thus a little cramp-inducing so I'll need all the practice I can get. It's been a while since I wore heels on a regular basis, preferring flats over heels for work.
The pair with the bow is a lot more comfortable and I call them my backup pair. I can totally wear them with my second gown or if my first pair gives me grief, I can switch pairs and still look great!
Perfect plan haha!

Details!

Love the pretty flower!

This is definitely a pair I can wear in future.

I'm very happy with my purchases. Bride-to-bes in Singapore can definitely check out Studio Tangs for their wide range of bridal shoes. And the prices are very reasonable too!

Glee!

Love: Free Book Themed Baby Shower from Martha Stewart

This gorgeous baby shower invite from Martha Stewart was featured on Creature Comforts and How About Orange and it was absolutely adorable!!

This whimsical collection was designed by Anna Bond from Rifle Paper Co and photographed by Tara Donne. You can get the free printables here. I especially love the bookplate and the bookmark. You can totally use them on a non-baby shower occasion.

I love the colour theme!

Perfectly adorable!

This baby shower feature also teaches you how to make miniature booklets and a nursery story themed menu!

Check out Anna's beautiful blog and Tara's works too!

Many thanks to Ez from Creature Comforts and Jessica from How About Orange for featuring this lovely set of printables.

Furniture Love: Nesting Tables

Now why didn't I think of this sooner??

Jay Desk and Hutch from West Elm via Design*Sponge

Takes up minimal space but the smaller desk can be easily pulled out when you need the extra space.
I need this.

Or, this GUSTAV laptop table from IKEA is great as well.

Dream : Vanity Table Peignoir from BHLDN

I want this.

DIY Love: Secret Storage Books

Storage.

That is always a problem for me.
I have tons of stuff. Magazines, scrapbooking materials, craft supplies and I swear they seem to grow in size on it's own. Like a little monster in my cupboards.

Storing things away neatly to reduce the unsightly clutter and also for easy usage just makes sense but it is not always an easy thing to do.

I'd hate to have big plastic crates all stacked up in the corner of my room because well it's just plain ugly. Therefore I am forever on the quest to find pretty yet practical storage solutions that doesn't bust my piggy bank.

Here's one great idea I found on Design*Sponge

Brenna's Secret Storage Books!
Just the name itself sounds fun. Like those books you used to see in the movies where people would use to hide money or treasure in. It also reminds me of the decorated boxes I gave my best gal pals for Christmas.

It looks really easy to make and you can easily label and store craft items in them. Or make it as a letter writing kit to give to friends. People don't write enough letters nowadays and it's always nice to get snail mail.

Check out how to make them here!

Tip: How to keep matching sheets together in the closet

Another 'why-didn't-I-think-of-that?!' idea from The Guru herself, Martha Stewart.

image from Martha Stewart Living

This is genius!!!
MANY a time when I'm getting fresh sheets for my bed, I've had to dig through my bedlinen shelves for at least 5 mins to get together the whole set. I get all hot and bothered and find it such a chore.
But as The Guru teaches us lesser mortals, all you have to do is when folding your freshly laundered bedsheets, to tuck the folded set into one of its pillowcases. You can then proceed tp stack them on your shelves according to colour or season!

It's that simple!
Now excuse me while I go do that now.

Food Love: Cuddled Eggs and Caramelised Banana Pocket Sandwich

How about a deviation from wedding stuff for today?

It's a beautiful Sunday morning and I had the motivation and mood to cook my man a good breakfast to start off his day for work.

Cuddled Eggs and Caramelised Banana Pocket Sandwich

For someone who works outdoors and in an active job, he needs all the protein and energy he can get. Bananas are a rich source of potassium, which helps your muscles function properly, and also gives you energy. Eggs are a good source of protein. All in all, a good breakfast to fill you up with energy for a full day of work.

I used the recipe for Cuddled Eggs from Sweet Paul with a couple of modifications. I didn't have heavy cream in the house so I didn't put that in. I added bits of honey baked ham, black pepper, salt and McCormick Mixed Herbs.

It turned out very yummy, although the next time I do this I'll probably just bake it for 5 to 8 mins instead.

Cuddled Eggs recipe from Sweet Paul

How to make caramelised bananas:

1 med banana (or 2 small ones)
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
1 tablespoon of brown sugar

Cut the banana into small pieces.
Melt butter and brown sugar in a frying pan over medium heat.
Add in the bananas flat side down, in one layer on the melted sugar and turn down the heat to low.
Flip the bananas over after a couple of minutes when they are nicely browned or when the smell of bananas fill your kitchen, and brown the other side.

To make the pocket sandwiches:
Butter 2 sides of the bread, put it in your sandwich maker.
Ladle up the caramelised bananas on the bread.
Add the second slice of bread on top, clamp down the sandwich maker.
3 mins later you're done!

A very yummy breakfast.
